Mr. Lobo’s Mind Space

1) Why do people love to gossip? I can never understand why gossiping about other folk makes entertaining conversation. I recommend a “Let’s Not Gossip” day in March 2006 – The date is set for March 8th. Spread the word all ye Bloggers and Readers of them Blog’s

2) The UAE has one of the best deep-water ports in the gulf region (It’s a free port, which makes life easy for carrier companies). They presently also house a lot of American solders and allow American war planes to fly in and out of their airports – So why are American’s so damn scared of a UAE company owning one of their deep water ports?

3) I have thought up a new marketing slogan for Revlon – “Your Beautiful”. Their entire campaign would work on the premise that women love to be told that they look beautiful – So when a woman/girl saw the slogan they would be automatically drawn to the Revlon counter – Better still the campaign would be all about using natural (good for your skin natural) skin tone color makeup

4) The other day while shopping for items to cook myself a South Asia meal I found myself in the drivers seat making a choice between 2 different tomato paste brands – I subconsciously picked the brand that had a shiny, more vibrant, creatively appealing container – Yikes!

What A Shame

Given that our friendly Iraqi insurgents can’t kill as many American soldiers they resort to going after other Muslims sects! God that is truly sad and pathetic.

Civil war is inevitable if they keep up bombing shrines etc... Not very long ago Iraq was fighting Iran in a bloody war (Muslim against Muslim) that destabilized that entire region and now a handful of no-good jackasses are trying to re-kindle that same war internally.
What a sad, sad world we live in.

Rogers VIP – I Don’t Think So!

I signed up for the Rogers Personal TV VIP Program and I was told I would receive a VIP card that would give me various discounts (i.e. At the Rogers Video store etc…).

Well it’s been 6 months now and I have yet to receive that VIP card. When I ask for a discount at Rogers Video they graciously tell me that I need a VIP card.

Blurb off the Rogers Web Page:

Get 10% off all regularly-priced purchases and rentals in-store and regularly-priced purchases online at rogers.com/video (excludes game hardware). Plus, take advantage of the additional VIP electronic monthly coupons at rogers.com/vipoffer.

The marketing blurb above clearly says that not only do I get 10% off I get monthly coupons that give me additional percentages off – I call this disconnected bull-crap.

The funny thing is that I Mr. Lobo the Rogers customer has realized that Rogers has discontinued the VIP card process and now sends out’s VIP video coupons every month (So I am led to believe by the Rogers Rep I have spoken with) via email.

Somebody needs to tell their Video stores that this has happened and bring to light the disconnect within their VIP program.

Which leads me to the question: Why am I not on their computer system as a VIP customer (Wireless, Video, Phone etc. all should share the same profile or this is a waste of CRM effort)?

Rogers bill’s me on a “one bill” format and yet my customer data profile is all over the bloody place.

In Someone Else's Shoes

1) Do we really understand what drives us to do what we do on a daily basis? Or do we keep at it to pay the bills? What are your thoughts about the daily grind?

2) Iraq is on the brink of Civil War!!!

3) Wedding location hunting should be made a profession. It has got to be one of the more complex tasks associated to getting married… Wish me luck I’m in the middle of it all

4) A new baby is coming into the family (My soon to be family) and any cool baby gift idea’s would be much appreciated

Riya - Photo Search

So a bunch of Text and Face recognition engineers have come together to rid the world of painful online picture searches (Have you ever tried to search of a specific pictures only to realize that it's labeled 00018765NH. jpg?). They are busy building a new type of photo search that uses technology to look inside and automatically tag pictures. Once accomplished this should be a truly revolutionary solution.

The company is named after the founder’s daughter - Riya. The name is very South Asian (Big Up to the boys in Brown!). I hear they secured 15 million in VC funding... good for them. Now wow us!
